An AI coach for cyclists, and for runners who ride

TL;DR

Leo Training started with running, but a cyclist who does not run gets a cyclist's plan, not a running plan in disguise: a long ride counted on moving time, one quality day alternating tempo with threshold or VO2max work, and a threshold test in week 1 followed by a retest. Without a power meter, the threshold comes from a 30-minute heart-rate test, or from a talk test. For runners, rides count in the plan as real sessions.

What a cyclist's week looks like

The long ride is sized on moving time, not on elapsed time with café stops, because that is what your legs actually did. The quality day stays on the same weekday and alternates tempo with threshold or VO2max intervals. The rest of the week is endurance riding. Week 1 includes a threshold test, and a retest later in the block checks that the zones still fit.

Your threshold, with or without a power meter

With a power meter, Leo estimates your FTP from your rides, and only keeps the estimate when two independent methods agree within 8 %. With a heart-rate strap only, a 30-minute test gives your threshold heart rate. With nothing, a talk test sets the zones. A real test always outranks an estimate.

Runners who ride

For a runner, the bike is not a bonus line under the plan. Your rides are planned and counted as sessions, they carry their own heart-rate zones, and they keep your fitness during a return from injury. For triathletes, the long ride is sized by race format, up to the Ironman.

Frequently asked questions

Can an AI running coach coach a cyclist who doesn't run?

Yes. When your week is all bike, Leo Training builds a cyclist's week: long ride on moving time, a fixed quality day alternating tempo and threshold or VO2max, and a threshold test in week 1.

Do I need a power meter?

No. Without one, a 30-minute heart-rate test or a talk test sets your zones. With one, Leo estimates your FTP from your rides when two methods agree within 8 %.

Which data sources work for cycling?

The same seven as for running, read-only: Strava, Suunto, Polar, COROS, Garmin, Apple Health and Health Connect.
