Leo Training and Garmin
Leo Training reads your workouts straight from Garmin Connect, so a Garmin runner does not need a Strava account in between. At connection, Leo imports up to two years of past sessions, then every new workout arrives automatically, laps included, so an interval session is read as intervals.
Read-only
What you need — A Garmin watch and a Garmin Connect account. No Strava required. You connect Garmin from your connections page once your account is created.
What Leo reads
- Up to two years of sessions at connection, then every new workout automatically
- Distance, duration, pace, heart rate, cadence and elevation
- Laps, so an interval session is read as intervals and not as one average
- Sport type, so rides, swims and cross-training are counted rather than ignored
How the sync works
Checked regularly rather than pushed: Leo re-reads your recent Garmin Connect activities every half hour. A session that syncs from your watch to Garmin Connect is normally in your diary within the hour.
What it does not do
- Read-only. Leo imports from Garmin Connect and never writes to it: no workout is sent to your Garmin watch and nothing in your Garmin account is modified.
- Not through Garmin's partner programme, which is closed to new applicants. You type your Garmin Connect credentials once on our page; they open the connection and are never stored.
- Not instant. A workout appears at the next check rather than the second you press stop.
One source at a time
Leo reads one activity source at a time. Strava, Suunto, Polar, COROS, Garmin and your phone's health store all carry the same workouts (a health store is fed by the same watch), so connecting a second one would duplicate every outing and leave you unable to tell which source Leo is actually reading. Switching sources takes two clicks on your connections page.
Your data
Only the session tokens Garmin returns are kept, encrypted. You can disconnect at any time from your connections page, which deletes the tokens and the workouts imported from Garmin; changing your Garmin password also ends the access.
Your data, already in sync.
Leo starts from the runs you have actually done — not from a questionnaire. Connect your source and get a plan built on your real training.

Frequently asked questions
Does Leo Training work with Garmin without Strava?
Yes. Leo reads your workouts directly from Garmin Connect, with up to two years of history at connection and laps included.
Can Leo send my session to a Garmin watch?
No. The Garmin connection is read-only: Leo reads what you ran and does not send workouts to the watch.
Is my Garmin password stored?
No. It is used once to open the connection and is never written to our database or our logs. If Garmin sends you a verification code, you type it on the same page.
Can I use Garmin and Strava together?
No. Leo reads one activity source at a time, because both would carry the same runs and duplicate every outing. Switching later takes two clicks.
