John Hinterreiter

John Hinterreiter is a Senior Agent of 17 years, working for the Lakewood Police Department in Lakewood Colorado, who is respectfully assigned to the Patrol Division. In addition to his primary duty, Agent Hinterreiter is assigned to the West Metro SWAT Team, boasting 9 years of SWAT Negotiator experience; serving as Team Leader and CNT Field Training Agent. Agent Hinterreiter has worked in other various facets of police work to include the CO Violent Offender Task Force under Special Deputation to the United States Marshals Service, LPD Special Enforcement Team, Police Honor Guard, Speaker’s Bureau, Field Training Unit, and the Colorado Life track Team.

Yancey Hanks

Lieutenant Yancey Hanks is the statewide officer in charge of Louisiana State Police SWAT. Yancey had 23 years of experience in law enforcement, 17 with Louisiana State Police, and has served in patrol, as a SWAT breacher, SWAT sniper, and SWAT operator. Yancey is trained as a negotiator and is basically CNT.

Lyons Hale

Captain Lyons Hale is the statewide coordinator of the Louisiana State Police Crisis Negotiation Team. Lyons has 26.5 years of experience in law enforcement and currently serves as the statewide commander of the Department of Public Safety’s State Capitol Detail. Lyons has his Master of Criminal Justice Leadership degree from Ole Miss and enjoys travelling to Colorado despite growing up 25 feet below sea level.

Lyons Hale and Yancey Hanks

Co-founder Lyons Hale began his law enforcement career in February 1998 working in uniformed patrol. He has served as a shift supervisor, shift commander, executive officer, and is currently the commander of a large statewide section of police officers. Lyons is a certified crisis negotiator and leads Louisiana's statewide negotiation team. Lyons has participated in numerous negotiations with suicidal subjects, barricaded subjects, and during large-scale demonstrations. He helps train new negotiators and develops crisis negotiation continuing education and training events for his agency and others. Lyons is an active member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Louisiana Association of Crisis Negotiators, the National Tactical Officers Association, and the Fraternal Order of Police.

Deb McMahon, CSM

Ms. McMahon serves as a senior instructor and curriculum developer for Crisis Hostage Negotiation and Peer Support Programs for Crisis Systems Management, LLC.

Andi O'Brien

Lieutenant Andi O’Brien is entering her 25 th year of law enforcement. Her service began in 1999 as a civilian. After 9/11 her calling moved her to the commissioned staff entering the law enforcement academy in 2003 and promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2018. Her assignments included detention, and the patrol division. In 2023 she was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. Throughout her tenure, one of her many ancillary assignments have included Hostage Negotiations starting as a negotiator and shortly after promotion transitioning to the Team Leader Role. Andi has had the honor to serve on the WSHNA (Western States Hostage Negotiators’ Association) Board since 2012 as a District Representative or on the Executive Board. She has led the coordination of four WSHNA Seminars. While with WSHNA, she has attended multiple NCNA (National Council of Negotiators Association) Meetings.

AJ White

Lieutenant White has been in law enforcement since 1998. Lt. White has served the Broomfield Police Department for 8 years and spent two years in Iraq training and mentoring the Iraqi Police. He has been with the Thornton Police Department since 2011 and has been on CNU since 2012. In 2017 he became the CNU Team Leader for Thornton. Lt. White currently supervises all graveyard operations out of the Fossil Ridge Station.

Pat Doering

Patrick Doering has been employed in law enforcement since 1996 and recently retired in 2024. He has been a Crisis/Hostage Negotiator since 2004 and was the St. Charles County Regional Crisis Negotiation Team Commander for three years.
